Today we got up kind of late. Surprising I know but we made a good day of it. Found a great breakfast place called Pret. They are all over the place but very natural and green and all that. Delicious and we'll probably go back. Next was underground to Big Ben and Parliment. So beautiful and regal. Lots of barricades up everywhere doing work on the city. Luckily not on our next stop, Westminster Abbey. I remember going to services here 20 some years ago and this is probably one thing in London that has not changed. So serene and majestic. Taylor managed to snap an illegal photo or two with her phone. Certainly not up to her standards but great covert work. Photos are not allowed inside the Abbey. One thing I did realize today is that England has been ruled by a lot of powerful women...and not all of them were nice. We walked the path of the recent wedding...but Tay wouldn't let me sit in the chairs where Pricesses Beatrice and Eugenia sat during the wedding. I think the same chairs were still sitting there.
Anyway, next we were off on a Thames River cruise, which wasn't as memorable as I recalled but something you really must do. We had a small adventure making our way to dinner. We chose The Anchor which was a pub said to have been standing near the fires that destroyed much of London during WS's time at the globe theatre. Willy is rumored to have watched the flames from the decks. Now Tay is telling me that story is all wrong. Anyway, old place, awesome fish and chips and cool atmosphere.
Next stop was the London Eye which is in walking distance from the pub...but only if you really like walking. We were late and Tay was mad at me but...guess what? We made it. This experience was cool and not as scary as I thought it would be. Tay finally learned to use her cool tilt shift lense and got some cool pics of the city below us. We walked across the Westminter Bridge, sat and enjoyed the sunset on the river (actually not in that order) and headed home on our friendly Circle Line train.
Tomorrow we are off to Portobello Road for their famous Saturday Market, Harrods and then likely Kensington Palace. More tomorrow. Girls out!
